Phragmipediums

Over the past 5 years or so, the phrags have gotten to be very popular as houseplants. They grow very rapidly and can bloom most of the year once they mature. They love water, and should be watered thoroughly every 2-3 days. At maturity, they enjoy about the same light as cattleyas, though lower light is ideal for the seedlings.

Phrag. besseae hybrids
Phrag. Eric Young (longifolium x besseae) This hybrid has been made dozens of times now. It is always a consistent performer, and always very popular in bloom. Bright yellow-orange blooms come sequentially on and off throughout the year. Grows very rapidly, forming a nice clump in short order. 3" pots, near blooming size. $15.00 (Regular price $25.00!)
NEW! Phrag Mary Bess(besseae x caricinum) Another very fine hybrid from Phrag besseae. Bright orange blooms throughout the year above very vigorous plants. Made with improved parents; should be great! Again, we are able to lead the way in keeping prices reasonable. 2 1/2" pots, near blooming size. $15.00
Phrag. Longifolium var. hinksianum A slightly darker form of Longifolium. Very easy to grow and can bloom for months at a time. $15.00
NEW! Phrag (Eric Young x longifolium) There have been several hybrids which are back-crosses of besseae to its hybrids, and these have been really neat. We decided to try a different direction in order to improve the vigor and size, while hopefully blending some greens in with the dominant besseae orange. We think these are going to be fabulous. 2 1/2" pots, near blooming size. $15.00
NEW! Phrag. lindleyanum Very similar in every respect to Phrag. sargentianum (above). 2 1/2" pots, 3 years to bloom. $15.00
NEW! Phrag (lindleyanum x caudatum) Should be very similar to Phrag dDemetria, which we have really liked. Glossy blooms with long petals in tones of green and pinky-orange. Very large showy blooms on tall strong stems over big strapping leaves. A fine and imposing hybrid.. 2 1/2" pots, 3years to bloom. $15.00
Phrag. Walisii x Longifolium Phrag. Paul Eugene Conroy has long winding petals with red and mahogany color at the tips. Tall upright stem with several flowers blooming sequentially. $15.00
Phrag. Besseae x Hirtzii Phrag. Mountain Maid has Red/orange flowers with wide oval shaped petals. Plants remain small and are excellent for light stand growers. $15.00
Phrag. Eric Young made with the Yellow form of Besseae 2.5" pots $15.00
Phrag. Grande 2.5" pots $15.00
Phrag. Caricinum "Aileen" AM/AOS x self 2.5" pots $15.00
Phrag. Mem. Dick Clements using the yellow Besseae 2.5" pots $15.00
Phrag. Eric young made with the yellow version of besseae. These should be really different, we expect to see more yellow coloration and possibly some pure yellow like the besseae. 2.5" pots near blooming size. $15.00 ea.
Phrag. Caricinum "Aileen" Am/Aos x self This is a miniature specie with tan, brown, and green flowers with lavender petal tips, held well above the foliage. Rarely offered. 2.5" pots $12.50
Phrag. Amazonica This is a miniature plant with flowers held high above the foliage. Petals are downswept light lavender coloring in the petals, the pouch and sepals are green. 2.5" pots $10.00
Phrag. Amazonica x Besseae These should look very familiar to the Eric young hybrids except with a more downswept petal. 2.5" pots $12.50 ea.
Phrag. Grande These are a famous remake of the original. Show stopping flowers held high on a tall spike. Flowers are green and white, and hang down with petals up to a foot long and twisted to the ends. Very unique phrag. 2.5" pots $12.50 ea.
Phrag. Belle House Point (Caudatum x Eric Young) These should be brightly colored flowers with long petals and a tall spike habit. We expect to see some fantastic results from this hybrid. 2.5" pots $12.50
