Other Orchids

In the orchid business, we are always on the lookout for "something different". These are all varieties we've chosen because of their beauty, novelty appeal, and ability to grow and bloom well in a mixed collection. We're sure you'll find some of these tempting, too!

Angraecum sesquipedale ('Mount Zion' FCC/AOS x 'Star of Malagasy' FCC/AOS) It is hard to imagine a finer mating of this species. Massive waxy white blooms right around Christmastime. These have a marvelous long spur (up to 18" long, which is where it gets its name) off the back of the blooms. Very fragrant at dusk. Grows very easily in the same light as a cattleya. Likes to be kept constantly moist. 2 1/2" pots, about 3 years to bloom. $9.50
Brassia Edvah Loo 'Mark Daniels' HCC/AOS (longissima x gireoudiana) Similar to Brassia Rex. Large spidery blooms are displayed in paired ranks along the spikes. Very easy to grow and bloom in the home. A lovely plant, by anyone's standards. 2.5" pots, blooming size. $8.50
Brassia Memoria Fritz Boedecker 'Witch Doctor' (longissima x Rex) An outstanding example of the "spider orchid". Large yellow-green blooms of spidery form barred in chestnut-brown. Onc. Mendenhall (Butterfly x papilio)Onc. Mendenhall (Butterfly x papilio) Line breeding for increased size and improved color in the "butterfly" group. They prefer low light, plenty of water, and warm to intermediate temperatures. 2.5" pots, $10.00
Onc. Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' AM/AOS (Jamie Sutton x Honolulu) This relatively new introduction has already carved out a niche for itself in the florist and nursery trade.
